A handful of Chinese bellflowers stretches freely over a fan-shaped frame that is turned sideways. The rather oversized drawing indicates that the original draft was not intended for a fan-frame.
Branches and leaves drawn with single strokes and detailed depiction of petals and floral centers are signs of a seasoned artist. Balanced distribution of dark and light shades gives this small piece a settling impression.
